Welcome

Welcome to MIS 543! This course is designed to give you a thorough, hands-on understanding of how modern data communications networks operate. Whether you are pursuing a career in cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, IT management, or business analytics, a solid foundation in networking is essential.

Throughout the semester, you will work with industry-standard tools including Cisco Packet Tracer, Wireshark, AWS Academy, and Python socket programming to bridge the gap between theory and practice. I look forward to working with each of you.

Hands-On Labs

Build and analyze real networks using Packet Tracer simulations, Wireshark captures, and AWS cloud environments.

Python Networking

Write socket programs that communicate over TCP and UDP, and gain practical experience with network protocols from the inside.

Cloud & Security

Explore AWS VPCs, security groups, S3 hosting, and VPN technologies to understand modern enterprise architectures.
